Founder

Ernst Hafen has been professor at the Institute of Molecular Systems Biology since 2005. He has made important contributions on cell fate specification and in the control of cell and body size, and currently researches the genetic control of development.

He is a dedicated teacher and lectures in many different courses each year. Ernst initiated, strongly supported the development of CAL and has been leading D-BIOL's teaching activities as Director of Studies. He also initiated a doctoral thesis in education research to study how high-school and university students understand basic concepts in biology.
