COVID-19: CAL supports virtual part of practical courses in the biology bachelor

Due to the current pandemic practical courses of the biology bachelor's program had to at least partially be held virtually. There was a limit of students allowed in a laboratory which is why student groups alternated weekly between working in the lab and on interactive online learning activities.

CAL developed some of the virtual activities which included going through experimental protocols, answering questions about the experiment and the procedure, watching videos and interpreting provided results. Students' supervisors could then check on student's answer provide feedback and additional information in an interactive life session after the virtual exercise. We paid special attention to implementing experiments which otherwise could not be executed in a student's practical course due to time or ressource contraints.
