CAL support

The lecture is divided into 2 hours of self-study and 2 hours of frontal lecture and in-class activities. Scripts, videos, and multiple-choice quizzes are offered for the self-study phase. An important active learning element used in this course are moderated forum discussions. CAL designs and executes the exam.
This course was newly designed by CAL after the revision of the biology bachelor curriculum. Ulrich Genick coordinated the lecture by discussing course objectives and content with the other lecturers to ensure coherency of the course despite the high number of lecturers and the topic diversity. Each lecturer serves as an expert presenting a topic related to his own research. This makes the course very attractive to students, especially in preparation for the third bachelor year where students can start specializing with respect to their master programme.
The course has been running since 2015 and is extremely well received by the students.
