This course, which was newly designed by CAL for the medical curriculum, uses a blended-learning approach: During a self-study phase, students work on interactive online lessons and scripts and quizzes to prepare for the lecture. In the lectures, medical applications of the biological fundamentals are discussed. The course is complemented group exercises where problem-based learning and case studies is used to highlight connections between course topics.

For their participation in course activities, students can obtain bonus points for their exam. The final exam is conducted as an electronic exam supported by CAL.
