Flipped classroom

About the course

The lecture 'Molecular Genetics and Cell Biology' ('Molekulare Genetik und Zellbiologie', 551-0033-00 G) is a core lecture in the bachelor curricula of Health Sciences and Technology and Human Medicine. It is taught during the first semester for 5 hours weekly and attended by approximately 300 students. The course is taught by Prof. Jacob Corn, Prof. Frédéric Allain and Dr. Katja Köhler.

Implementation of flipped classroom

Two out of five hours each week are dedicated to self-study time where students read scripts prepared by CAL, watch provided videos, solve weekly quizzes and complete related online-activities before the corresponding lecture later that week. In the actual lecture the presenter can then focus on solving problems encountered by students during the activity and build on the freshly acquired knowledge to dive deeper into the subject.
